Americans Are Living (And Dying) In A Militarized Police State - American Chronicle

Some sad stories, some involving bad police officers, but the point about officers protecting themselves in kevlar and trying to arm themselves as to approximate the firepower of the drug dealers and gang members causing the tragedies seems a stretch. Bad police work and poor judgement yes, firepower and protective vests no.
In our area the sheriff's office has a surplus troop carrier that was used last year to rescue wounded officers during a shootout.
