Myopia: Lets Put It Together: the Research and Clinical Experience
Jeffrey Cooper, MS, OD, FAAO
We will review the etiology of myopia (animal and human research), its implication to eye disease, and then will spend time on measurements using axial length. We will review evidence based treatment strategies including atropine (all dosages from 1% to .01%); contact lenses (ortho K and available multifocal soft contact lenses); spectacle glasses (DIMs, Stellest, DOT); and red lens therapy. Lastly we will integrate randomized clinical trial results and meta-analysis with that with real life cases and develop a realistic clinical paradigm using our clinical experience for patients age 2 to 45 to slow the progression of myopia.
