Optometrists fail contact lens exam (The Star)

Incorrect! This is horrible news and wrong info in the newspaper:mad:

Those failed are opticians who hold the FBDO certificate sitting for their Contact Lenses examination. The examination was conducted in UKM university.

The teaching corriculum and preparation for this exam was conducted by MAPO (Malaysia Association of Practising Optician)

This is the last chance Malaysia Ministry of Health gave opticians to qualify for CL practice.

But they all failed.

Malaysian Optometrists are not required to sit for any examination for CL practice.

Malaysia Optical Council (MOC) is the governing body(subsidary to Ministry of Health) regulating all the practising certificate.
1)Green certificate is for optometrist (practise all aspect including CL)
2)Blue certificate is for optician (only can practise refraction)
3)Pink certificate is ADD-ON for optician (for CL practice)
---> in this case, those failed in the above CL exam
4)Annual practising License.

MAPO is association for optician
AMO (Association of Malaysian Optometrist) is for optometrist
