As optometry’s scope of practice continues to evolve, so does our responsibility to provide pain management. This course will provide the strategies needed to confidently provide appropriate pain management strategies for those in our care that require it.
1) Understand the ocular pain pathway along with the inflammatory cascade
2) Discuss topical medical strategies to alleviate pain
3) Discuss oral narcotics and various prescribing schedules
